bridge fit and set up this rosewood OM
rosewood NL-00 and figured padauk AJ ready for binding...
close the box on this figured ovangkol AJ (back brace ends not yet shaped)

That's a classy parlor guitar, Michael. I really like the solid inner ring of the rosette. Beautiful wood on the back and sides too.

Ed - You guys are the busy beavers. Nice variety of woods there.

Finishing a semi hollow electric.
Glued the neck and glued a veneer to the bottom of the nut slot.
Did some sanding.
Just need to make a bridge block and an angled pickup ring.
First try at wood binding on the body and fretboard.

For those of you that don't check out the Doc-U-Build section I just got this mandolin strung up in the white. The new owner got to check it out today and was real happy. I'll fine tune the setup and then take the hardware off for finishing. Bad camera angle kind of stretched it out but it's a standard A5 shape.

Nice work everyone. So inspiring! It's always slow going for me, so projects stay on my bench for a good long while. But progress is achieved, eventually.

I've made it to the finishing stage on a white oak OM that I've been building. Here's a look at it with a couple coats of varnish, along side the Port Orford cedar neck I made to go with it. I just love that stuff!

I'm finally in the finishing stage on my first...back, sides, and neck/headstock are just about done, maybe 1-2 more coats, and I still need to locate the bridge and finish the top. StewMac mahogany dread kit with ziricote bindings and mun ebony head plate. Finish is Sutherland Welles U-500 and Polymerized Tung Oil over Zpoxy pore fill. I really love working with this stuff, I've done very little wood finishing before this and it's turning out great...very easy application (I've been wiping it on with a square of old t-shirt folded into a pad) and it's easy on the lungs, too. Can't wait to string this thing up!

Lots of stuff on my work bench these days! No matter how I clean it, it always returns to this, its natural state.

Now that I have finished the viola da gamba I need to make some Baroque bows for the bass viol.

And, just for fun, I kind of have this 1836 Lacote guitar happening, slowly.

I'm trying to get this Amazon Rosewood and Lutz Odalisque done this week. Just need to make (another) bridge for it -- first one got a little thin.


Also doing a bunch of repairs, including a major overhaul on this late-40's all-mahogany J-45. Most it's braces are either missing, loose, or split...


And I'm very excited to be out of the starting gate on three new builds, two small-bodied Odalisques, one in Macacauba with a Lucky Strike top. (sides are top down, just put the backs underneath for the photos)

One in Tasmanian Tiger Myrtle and German Moonspruce.

and a jumbo-sized baritone in Ziricote and possibly an ST redwood top.

Poor phone picture of a coco/adi dread and a brw/European spruce OM I'm working on. This is just prior to final sanding, prepping etc, they are both in the spray booth now.

I stickered and bound tonewood I got at the ASIA symposium. A set of Brazilian rosewood, Guatemalan rosewood, Malaysian blackwood, Padauk, Grenadilla, and some nice Adirondack too sets too.

Unfortunately my basement work space is over 70% humidity this week so I'm building jigs, and starting some pearl inlay. No building until the humidity goes down.
